The citrus-colored 2012 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) is flinty, fresh and very precise on the nose, with coolish lemon aromas intermixed with crushed and flinty slate flavors. Round, piquant and with great finesse, this is a luscious, highly elegant and weightless noble Auslese with a pure, very long, stimulatingly precise and salty-frisky finish that reveals great tension without losing its easygoing Mosel character. This is a Sonnenuhr classic at its best, and it is already delicious to drink. One bottle for each might not be enough of this 7.5% alcohol beauty. (Tasted from AP 49 13 in March 2017.)
