Tasting note
Bright and polished, the 2021 'Le Petit Cheval' Bordeaux Blanc opens with lifted aromas of citrus blossom, lemon zest and ripe stone fruit, layered over flinty, saline minerality. Subtle toasted oak and vanilla spice weave through a creamy mid-palate, giving weight without losing freshness. The palate is driven by lively acidity that balances the gentle oak influence and leaves a long, mouthwatering finish. Produced as the second label of a renowned Saint-Émilion estate, this bottling reflects careful vineyard selection from cooler parcels and restrained yields to concentrate aromatics. Fermented and matured with a portion of its élevage in oak barrels to add texture and complexity, the wine shows both finesse and structure—approachable now after a short rest in glass but possessing enough tension to evolve over the next decade. Serve slightly chilled, with a 30–60 minute aeration to open the bouquet. Excellent with oily, meaty fish, richer seafood preparations, pork dishes and aged creamy cheeses.

Chateau Cheval Blanc is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates, known for meticulous viticulture and terroir-driven wines. Under the management of Pierre Lurton and ownership linked to prominent investors, the property produces both its flagship wine and smaller second-label cuvées that reflect the château’s attention to detail. Vineyards sit on varied soils within the Saint-Émilion area; for white bottlings, careful parcel selection and measured oak élevage are used to balance freshness with textural complexity.
