Tasting note: A rich, inviting nose of dried fruits and Oloroso-like sherry warmth leads into plush caramel, vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate it offers concentrated notes of raisin, fig, dark chocolate and orange peel, balanced by baking spice and a malty core. The texture is smooth and round with a creamy mid-palate; the finish is long, warming and gently nutty.
Producer & distillery: Bottled under The Singleton label and produced at Glen Ord in Speyside (Diageo portfolio), this 12-year-old is a single malt crafted for approachability and depth. Glen Ord’s tradition of gentle distillation and careful maturation gives this release a soft, malty backbone that pairs well with sherry cask influence.
Production & maturation: Matured for twelve years in traditional oak then finished in sherry-seasoned casks, allowing dried fruit and nutty characters to build without overwhelming oak bitterness. Low-peat spirit and precise cask selection emphasize sweetness, toasted oak and spice rather than smoke.
Terroir & barley: Sourced from Scottish malted barley and distilled with Speyside spring water, the spirit reflects the region’s cool climate and pure water that produce clean, fruity esters and a silky mouthfeel. Not a vineyard wine, but the surrounding fields and cool Speyside air shape the barley and the whisky’s gentle profile.
Service: Serve neat or with a few drops of water to open the aromatics. Let rest in the glass about 10–20 minutes (we suggest ~15 minutes) before tasting to allow the sherry notes to bloom.
