Tasting Note: A mature and concentrated expression from Barossa Valley—aromas of ripe blackcurrant and blackberry weave with cedar, tobacco leaf and graphite. Secondary notes of dark chocolate, leather and baking spice emerge with aeration. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and structured: dense black fruit core, firm yet ripe tannins, bright mid-palate acidity and a long, savoury finish that shows integrated oak and mineral undertones.
Producer & Vineyard: Crafted by Two Hands Wines under owner Michael Twelftree with Ben Perkins leading winemaking and Travis Coombe managing the vineyards. Fruit is sourced from select Barossa parcels, reflecting the region's warm days, cool nights and varied soils that give concentrated fruit and textural depth.
Winemaking: Small-lot fermentation with careful extraction to build structure, followed by extended maturation in quality French oak to refine tannins and add spice complexity. Bottled to age gracefully; this 2003 vintage now shows developed tertiary complexity while retaining considerable energy.
Serve: Decant about 45 minutes to let aromas open. Best enjoyed with richly flavoured red meats or aged cheeses.
