2022 Valli Bannockburn Vineyard Pinot Noir (1500 ml)

Soul Hook: Concentrated Central Otago tension—red fruit clarity with savoury mineral length.

Why choose it?
- Site-driven precision -> Distinct sense of Bannockburn minerality and bright citrus lift.
- Thoughtful oak use -> 11 months in French oak (29% new) gives spice and structure without overwriting fruit.
- Limited production -> Small-batch attention for a refined, collectible bottle.

Sommelier's private note: Fresh red cherries and sliced strawberry leap from the glass, then cedar, baking spice and a savoury undercurrent of mushroom and wild thyme settle in. Medium-bodied with lively acidity and fine, linear tannins—tension rather than weight. Shows immediately but rewards gentle cellaring.

Winemaking & vineyard: Fruit drawn from Felton Road and Hall Road sites in Bannockburn; ferment includes ~32% whole-bunch. Aged ~11 months in French oak (c.29% new). Small total production, screwcap closure to preserve vibrancy.

Occasion / Pairing: Perfect for a relaxed dinner of roast duck or lamb loin with herb jus, or for richer Asian dishes like teriyaki chicken and spiced beef rendang. Decant ~45 minutes if drinking now.

Competitive edge: Delivers near-Burgundian finesse and clarity from Central Otago at a fraction of trophy-label pricing—polished, food-friendly and terroir-expressive.
