Tasting note

Tasting Note: The 2019 shows classic Barolo poise — red and darker berry notes with cedar, nutmeg and a faint bark-like savoury edge. Medium-bodied and racy, the palate is driven by fresh acidity and firm, building tannins that lead to a long, flavourful finish. Producer Notes: Run under the Virna Borgogno name by Lodovico’s daughter, the estate preserves a family, tradition-driven approach, favouring clarity and structure in its wines. The style leans classic rather than overtly modern. Winemaking Notes: Fermentation and extended maceration extract clear tannic structure; maturation in wood (traditional cellars) refines texture while keeping freshness. The result is a wine built for ageing but approachable with aeration. Vineyard Notes: Sourced from Barolo hillside parcels with well-draining, calcareous soils and favourable exposures that emphasise precision and aromatic lift. Cooler nights help maintain acidity and aromatic definition.
