Christian Moueix 到底係咩來頭 ?
Christian Moueix 生於1946年，係著名酒商嘅兒子，喺 Libourne出生，自小喺波爾多酒業世家中長大。教育背景非常豐富，先喺巴黎取得農業工程學位，再喺1968-69年期間轉戰加州，喺戴維斯分校(UC Davis) 攻讀釀酒學 (p.s UC Davis係全球最負盛名嘅釀酒學院之一) 呢段學習經歷為佢日後喺 Napa 嘅事業奠定咗基礎。
喺1970年，Christian Moueix 正式加入家族企業，一開波就直接管理傳奇酒莊 Pétrus，最初佢都係負責公司嘅葡萄栽培活動，後來承擔商業責任，到最終喺1991年成為埋公司總裁。

1982年，Christian Moueix 喺他人嘅建議下，決定同另外2位業界人士合作喺納帕谷建立 Dominus Estate，到1995年仲做埋呢個莊嘅唯一擁有者。
喺2008年，年到62歲嘅 Christian Moueix 好欣賞 Ulysses Vineyard 呢個葡萄園採用乾耕法 (dry farming)，所以決定收購，體現出佢對可持續釀酒理念嘅堅持。
當然 Ulysses Vineyard 除左乾耕法 (dry farming) 外都仲有好多亮點㗎，Ulysses 酒莊係坐落於 Napa 嘅 Oakville 子產區，鄰近 Dominus Estate 及知名酒莊 Harlan Estate，屬納帕谷「黃金地帶」。屬於地中海氣候，日照充足，夜晚涼爽，延長葡萄成熟期。沖積扇地形帶來礫石與砂質壤土，礦物質豐富，能賦予葡萄酒鮮明結構感。所以話 Christian Moueix 嘅眼光果然獨到。
Ulysses 首發即巔峰 !?
Ulysses 經歷四年時間對葡萄園進行全面重植與修復後。喺2012推出首年份並打破左「新酒莊需時間沉澱」嘅慣例，直接躋身 Napa Valley 頂級酒款之列。2021年拎埋加州有機農業認證（CCOF），成為 Napa Valley 少數獲得有機認證的高端酒莊之一，體現咗酒莊對可持續農業嘅承諾。

Who is Christian Moueix?Born in 1946, Christian Moueix is the son of a famous wine merchant, raised in a Bordeaux wine family in Libourne. He has a rich educational background, first earning a degree in agricultural engineering in Paris, then moving to California from 1968 to 1969 to study winemaking at UC Davis (which is one of the most prestigious winemaking schools in the world). This educational experience laid the foundation for his future career in Napa.
In 1970, Christian Moueix officially joined the family business, starting by managing the legendary winery Pétrus. Initially responsible for the vineyard activities, he later took on commercial responsibilities and ultimately became the company president in 1991.
California Strategy!?
In 1982, on the suggestion of others, Christian Moueix decided to collaborate with two industry peers to establish Dominus Estate in Napa Valley, and by 1995, he became the sole owner of the estate.In 2008, at the age of 62, Christian Moueix admired the dry farming practices at Ulysses Vineyard, leading him to acquire it, reflecting his commitment to sustainable winemaking.
Ulysses Vineyard not only employs dry farming but also boasts many highlights. The Ulysses winery is located in the Oakville sub-region of Napa, near Dominus Estate and the renowned Harlan Estate, situated in Napa Valley's "golden zone." It has a Mediterranean climate with ample sunlight and cool nights, extending the grape ripening period. The alluvial fan topography brings gravel and sandy loam, rich in minerals, providing the wine with a distinctive structure. This shows that Christian Moueix’s vision is indeed exceptional.
Ulysses Debuts at Its Peak!?
After four years of comprehensive replanting and restoration of the vineyard, Ulysses launched its first vintage in 2012, breaking the convention that "new wineries need time to settle," and directly entering the ranks of Napa Valley's top wines. In 2021, it also achieved California Certified Organic Farmer (CCOF) certification, becoming one of the few high-end wineries in Napa Valley to receive organic certification, demonstrating the winery's commitment to sustainable agriculture.
