Louis Roederer 建立於1776年，完全按照香檳區種植法令(Appellation) 種植Chardonnay和Pinot Noir 兩種葡萄；在十九世紀中期、Louis Roederer 在世界上越來越有名氣、並獲俄國沙皇亞歷山大三世的熱愛。因此他要求 Louis Roederer 幫他特別訂做屬於自己的香檳，並用水晶樽裝亦叫做“Louis Roederer Cristal＂ 自1876年開始只供應沙皇一人 。直至1918年，十月革命推翻了沙皇，又加上第一次世界大戰的爆發，Cristal將近停產；直到1945年才正式公開發售，並成為Champagne Louis Roederer最高級別的旗艦香檳！

Louis Roederer Cristal 一般是用於上流社會的經典晚宴，也有不少高收入的人士在求婚時向情人開一瓶 Cristal以表真誠形容感情像水晶般純潔! Louis Roederer 和Cristal更是現時英國皇室［御用香檳］,所以在西方貴族們心目中有顯刻的地位。

Cristal外包有有一層金黃色的玻璃紙，只有在飲用前才打開。 因為水晶樽是透明的,不似其他香檳瓶子是綠色或棕色，抵擋不到太陽的紫外線、所以需要另加一層保護膜（金黃色玻璃紙）。若把金黃色玻璃紙打開放在太陽下十五分鐘就會變壤。而品質優良嘅cristal起碼可存放到二十至三十年。

Therefore, he asked Louis Roederer to help him special order his own champagne, which use the crystal bottle so this Champagne called "Louis Roederer Cristal". Since 1876 serve only to The Czar. Until 1918, the October Revolution overthrew the Tsar, and with the outbreak of the First World War, Cristal nearly ceased production; it was not officially released until 1945, and it became the highest-level flagship champagne of Champagne Louis Roederer!

Louis Roederer Cristal is usually a classic dinner party used in the upper class. There are also many high-income people who open a bottle of Cristal to their lover when proposing marriage to express their sincerity and royalty feelings as pure as crystals! Cristal is wrapped with a golden cellophane, which is only opened before drinking. Because the crystal bottle is transparent, unlike other champagne bottles, which are green or brown colour, and cannot withstand the sun's ultraviolet rays, an additional layer of protective film (golden cellophane) is needed to protect the champagne. If the golden cellophane is opened and placed in the sun for fifteen minutes, it will become cocked. The good quality cristal can be stored for at least 20 to 30 years.
