Tasting Note: This 2018 Hauts Pruliers opens with layered aromas of red and black cherry, wild berry compote, and a fine weave of forest-floor earthiness. Secondary notes of baking spice, cedar and a light leather/underbrush nuance add complexity. On the palate it shows concentrated mid-weight body, lively acidity and polished, slightly grainy tannins that give structure without heaviness. The finish is savory and persistent with a mineral thread. Producer Notes: From the family domaine of Bertrand Machard de Gramont, this Premier Cru is a classic expression of Nuits-Saint-Georges—powerful yet refined, guided by the character of the site. The 2018 vintage brought ripe fruit and firm extract, resulting in a wine that balances density and lift. Winemaking Notes: Fermented carefully to preserve varietal aromatics and site expression, the wine sees attentive maceration and maturation in French oak (including a proportion of new wood) for close to a year to eighteen months, with regular élevage management to refine tannins and integrate spice notes. Vineyard Notes: Les Hauts Pruliers sits on well-drained, stony soils with good exposure and low-yielding vines. Soils of limestone and marl impart a compact mineral backbone while the mesoclimate gives ripe fruit with retained acidity. Low yields and rigorous selection underpin the concentration and clarity of flavour.
