Tasting note
A textbook Pauillac from Château Pichon Baron, the 2011 displays deep garnet colour and an aromatic profile of black fruit, cedar, tobacco and dark chocolate with a touch of toasted oak and spice. On the palate it is fleshy and generous yet classically structured: juicy acidity frames silky, ripe tannins and a broad mid-palate that carries concentrated cassis and blackberry flavours. The wine was harvested plot-by-plot, vinified parcel-wise with relatively rapid alcoholic fermentation and 20–25 days maceration, followed by malolactic and 20 months in oak. Sourced from the estate’s oldest vines planted on deep gravel soils, this Grand Vin blends intensity with refinement and delivers a long, mouth-watering finish. Drink now with a good decant or cellar further for additional tertiary complexity.

Château Pichon-Longueville (Baron) is a historic Pauillac estate, ranked 2ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855 and today owned by AXA Millésimes. The property emphasises plot-by-plot viticulture on deep gravel soils and meticulous cellar work: selective hand-harvest, individual vinification of parcels, extended maceration and ageing in oak. Under winemaker Alexandra Lebossé and viticulturist Aymeric Hervy the domaine balances classic Pauillac power with finesse and long-term ageing potential.
