Tasting note
Les Charmots 2020 from Fernand & Laurent Pillot is a classic Pommard Premier Cru: poised, structured and quietly powerful. On the nose, expect layered red fruits—cherry and cranberry—lifted by earthy notes of forest floor, dried mushroom and a hint of truffle. Secondary aromas of baking spice, leather and a subtle iron/mineral thread add complexity. The palate shows medium‑full body with bright acidity and well-defined, fine-grained tannins that give shape and length without overwhelming fruit. Oak maturation lends gentle spice and vanilla but remains in the background, allowing terroir expression to dominate. This vintage balances juicy red fruit with savory, mineral character and a persistent, savory finish. Crafted by a family domaine committed to traditional Burgundian practice, this wine rewards a short decant now or a few years of cellaring; it will continue to evolve through the 2030s. Serve with rich poultry, game or beef dishes and mature cheeses.
