2016 Chateau de la Maltroye Meurault 1er cru 'Genevieres' Hospices Beaune

A finely tuned Premier Cru from Meursault’s Genevrières, this 2016 bottling opens with lemon zest, white florals and a drizzle of honey over ripe stone fruit. On the palate it is generously textured — creamy mid-palate, toasted almond and subtle vanilla from careful oak élevage, and a distinct mineral thread that keeps the richness in balance. Produced as a Hospices de Beaune allocation and vinified by de la Maltroye, the wine shows polished oak integration, gentle lees stirring and partial malolactic to build roundness without losing freshness. Ideal to decant about 45 minutes to let aromas bloom; pairs beautifully with shellfish in butter, roasted poultry and rich risottos.

Winery

De la Maltroye is a well-regarded Meursault house known for bringing out the site expression of top Premier Crus. Working largely with family-owned parcels and careful barrel élevage, their approach balances ripe, rounded texture with a clear mineral backbone. For Hospices de Beaune allocations they strive to preserve the vineyard’s identity while adding refinement through thoughtful oak use and lees management.
