2020 Domaine Caroline Frey Aloxe-Corton
Tasting note: This Aloxe‑Corton 2020 opens with a lifted bouquet of red cherry, wild strawberry and rose petal, then reveals cedar, forest floor and a whisper of clove. On the palate it is medium-bodied with bright acid drive, silky yet present tannins and a fine mineral thread that keeps the fruit focused. The finish is poised and persistent, showing both freshness and mature depth.
Producer notes: Crafted by Domaine Caroline Frey, the wine reflects a hands-on, terroir-first approach. The domaine favours low yields and meticulous canopy work to concentrate flavour and preserve natural balance.
Winemaking notes: Fermentation is gentle and parcel-led, followed by careful élevage in a mix of old and small percentage new oak to add structure without masking site expression. Lees contact and careful stirring provide texture and integration.
Vineyard notes: Vineyards sit on classic Aloxe‑Corton slopes with limestone-rich soils and good drainage. South‑east exposures and moderate yields in 2020 produced ripe, scented fruit with a clear sense of place.
