The Dalmore 12 Year Old is a masterpiece of single malt craftsmanship, heavily influenced by its unique dual-cask maturation process. Initially aged in American white oak ex-bourbon casks for nine years, the liquid is then divided: half remains in the bourbon casks, while the other half is transferred to rare Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks from the legendary González Byass bodega. This meticulous process yields an incredibly rich, robust, and complex spirit. On the nose, it offers an alluring bouquet of citrus fruits, dark chocolate, and warm baking spices. The palate is treated to a decadent dance of Seville orange, dried fruits, and rich vanilla pods, before culminating in a long, warming finish accented by roasted coffee beans and bitter cocoa. It is a highly approachable yet remarkably sophisticated dram, perfect for both novices and seasoned whisky aficionados.
