Aged 18 months in French oak hogsheads (15% new, remainder 1–6 years). Bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve textural detail.

Vineyard notes: Fruit comes from low-yielding red/brown earth in Barossa’s western ranges — soils that give concentrated fruit, masculine tannins and deep colour. Managed for concentration rather than volume, the vineyards reflect the rustic mineral signature of the site.

Sommelier private note: Dark berry core meets cassis, black pepper and cocoa; the oak offers warm vanilla and a touch of smoke while firm, ripe tannins carry the mid-palate. Best with grilled or slow-cooked red meat — decant at least an hour so the layers open up.

Occasion: Weekend roast beef with friends, special-date dinner with rich sauces, or a leisurely barbecue where bold flavours need an equally bold wine.
