A classic Les Caillerets from Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur, this 2018 opens with a ripe, spicy bouquet of red and blue berry fruit and beguiling violet notes. Medium-bodied and fleshy on the mid-palate, the wine shows excellent volume and minerality with a lively underlying tension. Firm yet refined tannins give structure while a discreet touch of oak appears only at the finish. Made in a traditional Burgundian approach, the fruit is carefully handled and the wine benefits from élevage in French oak that preserves clarity and terroir expression. From upper-slope Caillerets vineyards, the limestone-rich soils and cool aspect contribute to the wine's precision and long graceful finish. Drink now with 30–60 minutes decanting or cellar through the early 2030s.
