The 1996 Chateau Pontet-Canet is a classic Pauillac with a firm structure and a rustic edge. Aromas of cedar, tobacco leaf, herbs, mint, and cigar box lead to a palate of red currants and spicy notes. The chewy tannins and long finish make it a wine of great character. Produced by the renowned Tesseron family, this wine is crafted with meticulous care, from hand-harvested grapes to biodynamic vineyard practices. Aged in a combination of new oak barrels, concrete amphoras, and one-wine oak barrels, it showcases a harmonious balance of tradition and innovation.
