2022 Amuse Bouche Vin Perdu Napa Valley Red Blend

Soul Hook: A Napa red that delivers immediate power with a poised backbone—big fruit, real structure, drink-now confidence.

Why choose it?
1) Handcrafted blend -> concentrated dark-fruit core and precise acidity for food-friendly depth.
2) Winemaker pedigree -> Heidi Barrett’s touch yields polished oak integration and layered complexity.
3) Estate-sourced fruit -> multiple boutique vineyards give texture and minerality usually reserved for higher-priced cuvées.

Sommelier’s private note: On pouring you’ll get a rush of ripe black cherry, blueberry and a lift of tart cranberry, framed by toasted spice. The palate is muscular but well-balanced—firm, chalky tannins and a lively acidity keep it fresh. This is the kind of Napa red that feels serious in the glass yet plays well with a hearty dinner.

Winemaking & Vineyard: Assembled from Fantesca, Amuse Bouche, Au Sommet, La Sirena and Barrett & Barrett sites, the wine sees careful oak maturation to add spice and structure without smothering fruit. The blend varies vintage to vintage; this bottling emphasizes tension between ripe fruit and vibrant acidity.

Occasion (how to use): Decant 60–90 minutes and serve at 16–18°C. Ideal for weekend roast, celebratory family dinners, or a steak night with friends—pairs best with grilled or braised red meats and aged cheeses.

Competitive edge: Offers Napa concentration and a signature winemaker’s polish at a price point below the marquee flagship bottlenecks—great for those who want Napa character without the trophy-label markup.

Winery

Amuse Bouche Winery is a Napa boutique label producing concentrated, vineyard-driven wines. Owned by John Schwartz with winemaking led by Heidi Peterson Barrett, the estate sources fruit from several nearby premium sites. Vin Perdu is crafted as a bold, structured red with careful oak maturation to add spice and support without overwhelming primary fruit. Bottled under cork, the wine is positioned for near-term enjoyment or short-term cellaring.
