Tasting note

A powerful Clare Valley expression showing dense blue and black-fruit aromas—kirsch and blueberry—lifted by peppermint and spice. Secondary notes of star anise, cedar and mocha from careful oak ageing frame the fruit without overwhelming it. On the palate it is concentrated and full-bodied, with firm, grainy tannins and a savory, slightly astringent oak presence that gives structure and length. Made by Ben Perkins for Two Hands, fruit comes from carefully managed Clare sites under the watch of vineyard manager Travis Coombe; hand-harvested fruit sees small-batch fermentation and extended maturation in quality oak to build depth. Best decanted for an hour if drinking now; will reward short-term cellaring.

Two Hands Wines was founded by Michael Twelftree with a focus on single-vineyard purity and regional expression. Under winemaker Ben Perkins, the team works closely with growers (vineyard manager Travis Coombe among them) to source ripe, low-yield fruit from premium Clare Valley sites. Their approach emphasizes small-batch lots, careful extraction and oak regimes designed to support—and not mask—fruit intensity.
