Deep, intense and classically Pauillac — the 2014 Château Pichon-Baron delivers a rich palette of black fruits and layered spice framed by discreet, well-integrated oak. Made from the estate’s oldest plots planted on deep gravel soils, the wine underwent careful vineyard selection, targeted thinning and late-season leaf work to reach optimal ripeness in a warm, steady vintage. Fermentation and maceration were tailored by vine age (longer for older vines) with daily extraction monitoring; élevage lasted about 18 months in barrel, producing ripe, polished tannins and considerable structure. On the nose: blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry with hints of tobacco, graphite and licorice. The palate is full, precise and fleshy — savory, concentrated and long. Ready to enjoy after an hour of decanting but built to age for decades.
