Tasting Note: A bold, coastal Islay expression—An Oa opens with a plume of sweet peat smoke, lemon rind and a whisper of sea-salt. Warm PX-inflected dried fruit, vanilla and caramel thread through the oak-driven backbone. On the palate it’s grippy and dry at first, then softens with a mid-palate sweetness: honeyed malt, black tea and ginger, before peppery cloves and a long, campfire-smoke finish. Producer & Maturation: From Ardbeg on Islay, a no-age-statement single malt married from component casks including virgin oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry and bourbon barrels, finished by marriage in a French oak 'Gathering Vat.' Bottled at 46.6% ABV. Winemaking Notes: Traditional floor-malted barley character with heavy peat influence; careful cask selection (virgin oak, PX, bourbon) brings spice and rounded sweetness while the French oak marrying vat smooths and integrates. Vineyard / Site Notes: Made on the rugged southern coast of Islay where peat bogs, salt-laden sea air and cool maritime climate give the malt a distinct smoky, saline profile.
