Tasting note
Tasting note: The 2018 Sarmassa opens with a bouquet of wild strawberries and raspberries layered with dried florals, forest mushrooms and a whiff of cinnamon and tree bark. On the palate it is medium–full with bright, lively acidity, fine-grained yet firm tannins and a mineral, slightly balsamic finish that lingers. Producer notes: From the Sarmassa cru, this bottling reflects a family-run estate approach focused on clarity and terroir expression. The wine shows traditional refinement and excellent ageing potential—readying beautifully in the cellar but rewarding with moderate patience. Winemaking notes: Fermentation follows careful skin contact to extract ripe perfumes and structured tannins, followed by maturation in large oak casks with selected smaller barrels to integrate spice and round the texture. The result balances freshness, structure and aromatic depth. Vineyard notes: Grapes come from hillside parcels in Sarmassa planted on calcareous-clay soils with favorable exposure. Vine selection and low yields emphasize concentration and bright natural acidity, producing a wine with both energy and finesse.
