Tasting note

A focused Pommard Premier Cru from Albert Grivault, the 2020 Clos Blanc shows the village’s classic savory profile with ripe dark-fruit notes and mineral depth. On the nose: black cherry, red plum and cranberry layered with forest-floor and dried herb nuances; the palate delivers medium-plus body, bright balancing acidity and fine-grained but present tannins that give structure without overpowering. Gentle extraction and careful élevage in French oak yield spice and subtle toasted edges rather than overt oakiness. Best enjoyed after a short decant (about 45 minutes) to let the aromatics open; ideal drinking window 2025–2032. Serve slightly below room temperature (16–18°C).

Winery

Albert Grivault is a family-run domaine rooted in Pommard tradition. Focused on expressing terroir, the domaine works small, well-sited parcels with attention to low yields and careful parcel selection. Winemaking favours gentle extraction, native yeasts at times, and measured élevage in French oak to respect the vineyard character rather than mask it. The result is refined, terroir-driven wines that balance savory complexity with ripe fruit.
