This Mortlach x Starck L'Évolution 'Become' is a bold Speyside single malt that showcases Mortlach’s signature concentration and rich, savory character. On the nose it opens with baked orchard fruit and raisin notes, layered with toffee, dark chocolate and a hint of leather and oak spice. The palate is full-bodied and velvety—molasses and caramel give way to warm baking spice, black pepper and persistent toasted oak. A distinct, slightly meaty maltiness underpins the profile, leading to a long, warming finish where dried fruit and spice linger. Produced by Mortlach in collaboration with designer Philippe Starck, this release is about texture and presence rather than delicate florals: a thoughtfully matured spirit that rewards gentle airing (about 20 minutes) to reveal greater complexity.
