Chateau Leoville Barton is a long-established Second Growth estate in Saint-Julien, family-owned and run with traditional methods. Vineyards sit on prime Garonne gravel hilltops with clay-gravel subsoils that regulate water and ripeness. Ploughing is traditional and the team avoids herbicides. Harvest is entirely by hand; fruit is carefully sorted, fermented in temperature-controlled wooden vats by plot, with 7–10 days alcoholic fermentation and around three weeks maceration. The wine is aged 18 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a powerful yet refined style built for long ageing.
