2023 Chateau Trottevieille

Soul Hook: Saint-Émilion elegance with minerality that lingers—serious, seductive and built to age.

Why choose it?
1) Historic terroir -> Intense mineral backbone and varietal precision you feel from first sip.
2) Matured 100% new French oak -> Structured yet refined tannins and a long, lithe finish.
3) Castéja stewardship -> Consistent quality and cellar-worthiness at a relatively fair price compared with top-tier peers.

Winery & Vineyard Notes: Owned by the Castéja family, Château TrotteVieille sits on a distinctive Saint-Émilion terroir noted for stony soils and a higher-than-usual share of Cabernet Franc. The 2023 vintage was harvested parcel-by-parcel (8 Sept–4 Oct) to achieve perfect phenolic ripeness.

Winemaking Notes: Fermented and aged in 100% new French oak, the wine shows careful extraction—polished, dusty tannins, concentrated dark and red fruits, touches of cocoa and licorice, and a saline, chalky mineral thread.

Sommelier's Note: On the nose: dark plums, blackberries, dried florals and cocoa dust. On the palate: immediate clarity—juicy yet compressed fruit, lively acidity and a spine of minerality. Tannins are present but refined; finish is precise and persistent. Drink from 2029 for early approachability, or cellar for decades.

Occasion Pairing Guide: Sunday roast with friends, an anniversary beef main, or a special Cantonese banquet course where a structured red cuts through richer sauces. Decant ~90 minutes if drinking within the next few years.

Competitive Edge: Matches the polish and ageing potential of pricier First Growth neighbours but often represents better value per bottle—rarity of high-percentage Cabernet Franc in Saint-Émilion gives a distinctive aromatic and mineral profile.
