2023 Petit Mouton

1) 酒莊血統 -> 用相對親民的價位喝到Mouton一脈的風土;
2) 結構平衡 -> 果實飽滿但酸度、單寧有條理,配餐零難度;

[Soul Hook] A Pauillac second wine with serious pedigree: concentrated dark-fruit power wrapped in smoky, structured tannins — ready to cellar or enjoy with a hearty steak.

[Why choose it?]
1) Estate-born pedigree -> Access the Mouton Rothschild terroir at a far more approachable price and drinking window.
2) Balanced structure -> Ripe fruit, bright acidity and poised tannins make it both food-friendly and age-worthy.
3) Thoughtful élevage -> 18 months in French oak gives spice and polish without overwhelming the fruit.

[Winemaker & Winemaking notes] Crafted under Philippe, Julien and Camille Sereys de Rothschild. Harvest ran 7–30 September; vinified with precision and matured ~18 months in French oak. This second label captures the estate's hallmark concentration and tannic drive but with a slightly more immediate charm.

[Vineyard notes] From the Plateau de Mouton — deep, gravelly soils, dense plantings (~10,000 vines/ha) and an average vine age near 44 years. The site’s elevation and free-draining gravels give freshness and structure to the fruit.

[Sommelier's private notes] On the nose: cassis, black cherry, dried floral lift and cedar tobacco. Palate: concentrated dark fruits, a tangy citrus lift through the mid-palate, and firm but refined tannins that frame a long, slightly savory finish. Serve at 16–18°C after ~90 minutes decanting for immediate approachability; cellarable to develop tertiary spice and leather.

[Occasion — Hong Kong edit] Ideal for a celebratory rooftop dinner, a refined Sunday roast at home, or paired with a Chinese-style red-braised beef where the wine’s tannic grip cuts through the richness.

[Competitive Edge] Offers direct estate lineage and Pauillac structure at a price and drinking window that undercuts many first-growth alternatives — collectible, recognizable, and more food-flexible than heavier labels.
