Tasting note

This Napanook 2013 opens with vivid aromatics of violet and deep red fruits layered with cocoa and subtle spicy notes. On the palate it is medium-bodied with silky textures, fresh, bright acidity and a velvety finish that lingers with dark cherry and cocoa echoes. The 2013 season was marked by a dry spring and warm summer, concentrating flavors and producing energetic tension in the wine. Estate-grown and bottled exclusively from the Napanook vineyard, the wine benefits from meticulous vineyard work and minimalist cellar handling: careful cluster and berry sorting, gentle pump-overs to extract balanced color and tannin, optical sorting and regular hand racking by esquive. Ready to enjoy now with a short decant (60–90 minutes) yet built to evolve further through the drinking window to 2033.

Dominus Estate is an estate-focused producer led by Christian Moueix that emphasizes site expression and craftsmanship. Napanook is made exclusively from grapes grown in the estate’s Napanook vineyard and carries the estate-bottled designation. Production is small and artisanal; winemaking is deliberately minimalist to showcase vineyard character — rigorous sorting, optical berry selection, gentle extraction techniques and regular hand racking are hallmarks of their cellar work.
