1996 Fieuzal arrives with an assertive, almost elemental profile: dense black fruits and a hint of char, then mineral and graphite peek through. The mid-palate is sweet in concentration rather than sugar — it’s ripe extract framed by firm, refined tannins. Give it about 45 minutes in a wide decanter to let cedar and tertiary notes unfurl; the finish is muscular but pleasingly sustained.
