Chateau Ferriere stands as one of the most intriguing and boutique jewels of the 1855 Classification. Nestled right in the heart of Margaux on a rare 24-hectare enclave of deep gravel resting over limestone bedrock, this estate benefits from naturally regulated moisture, which proved vital during the hot, dry summer of the iconic 2005 harvest. Under the stewardship of Claire Villars Lurton, the estate employs meticulous plot vinification, native yeasts, and gentle extraction under 25°C, followed by 18 months of refined maturation in French oak and amphorae. In the glass, this vintage is now cruising through its glorious peak of maturity. It reveals sophisticated aromas of cassis, ripe wild blackberries, shaved cedar, and blond tobacco leaf, accented by subtle hints of forest floor and dried dates. On the palate, the power of 2005 has gracefully softened into a seamless, velvety texture supported by lively Margaux acidity and lingering stony mineral freshness, finishing with enduring aristocratic polish.
