Tasting Note: A classic Pauillac with a deep garnet core and a nose of ripe blackcurrant, black plum, cedar and cigar-box spice. Secondary notes of graphite, tobacco and leather unfold with aeration. The palate shows concentrated dark fruit framed by firm, well-structured tannins and a mineral, gravelly thread from the estate soils. Medium-plus acidity lifts the mid-palate and the oak influence is measured — toasted spice and vanilla from 16–18 months in French barrels (30–40% new). Producer & Winemaking: Château Grand-Puy Ducasse works its vineyards on Garonne gravels and silica with sandy gravels in places; grapes are hand-picked, destemmed, carefully sorted and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel or concrete vats before a lengthy élevage in French oak. Vineyard & Ageing: Classic Pauillac gravel gives the wine its structural backbone and ageing potential; balanced maturation in 30–40% new French oak preserves aromatic complexity and allows graceful development. Serving: Decant gently for 30–60 minutes to separate any sediment and to reveal tertiary layers; pairs beautifully with roast and grilled red meats, lamb with herbs and mature hard cheeses.
