2021 Les Fiefs de Lagrange

Saint-Julien refinement at a friendly price: focused red fruits, fine-grained tannins and clear ageing potential.

【Why choose it?】
1) Estate terroir, immediate pleasure: vineyard on classic gravel and clay gives structure without austerity → savour depth now with cellar upside.
2) Thoughtful vinification: parcel-by-parcel fermentation and gentle extraction → precise fruit expression and elegant tannin grip.
3) Oak for balance: 12 months maturation in barrel adds spice and polish → approachable texture for food-friendly drinking.

【Sommelier's private note】Pour and you’ll find bright cherry and redcurrant at the core, edged with tobacco-leaf and a hint of nougat from oak. The mouth shows a juicy mid-palate, fine-grained tannins that coat rather than dry, and a persistent finish framed by a pebble-like minerality. Drink now with 45–60 minutes decant or lay down to let the backbone unwind for another 5–10 years.

【Producer & winemaking】Les Fiefs de Lagrange is made from younger blocks of the estate planted on gravel for the firmer sites and clay for the rounder plots. Harvest was carefully staged in 2021, with parcel selection and fermentation at 26–28°C in 102 thermo-regulated vats, followed by malo-lactic co-inoculation and 12 months of oak ageing.

【Vineyard notes】Completely situated in the village of Saint-Julien, the estate spreads over gently sloping hills with pebble-rich topsoils over clay and limestone subsoils; temperate oceanic climate moderates ripeness and preserves freshness.

【Occasions — Hong Kong friendly】Perfect for a relaxed weekend steak at home, a Cantonese roast share plate with friends, or a wine-by-the-glass feature at a modern bistro.

【Competitive edge】More personality than generic Bordeaux second labels: serious Saint-Julien pedigree with approachable price—structure for short-term cellaring and enough charm to drink now.
