Producer notes: From Alvaro Palacios’ La Montesa hillside parcel in eastern Rioja (Alfaro), this wine celebrates Mediterranean-inflected altitude and old-vine character. The estate farms the site using traditional local methods, focusing on vineyards planted on complex soils that include clay, chalk and even volcanic stones. Winemaking notes: Fermented and matured in oak (roughly 12 months reported in critics’ notes), the wine is oaked to add spicy, savory depth without obscuring fresh fruit.
