An estate-driven expression from the Napanook vineyard, this 2006 release shows deep crimson color and a dense, layered nose of black cherry, fresh almond and bitter chocolate. On the palate it opens with a very full, velvety entry, wrapped in round yet deep tannins and succulent dark-fruit layers. Oak influence appears as cocoa and cigar tobacco notes, while bramble and black-currant echoes linger through a long, persistent finish. The vintage enjoyed a late start, hot mid-summer and cool nights that allowed extended hang-time—resulting in ripe, concentrated fruit balanced by clear structure. Winemaking is meticulous and restrained: thorough hand sorting, optical berry selection, gentle pump-overs to preserve aromatic detail, and periodic hand racking to barrel. Estate-bottled and produced in small quantity, this wine delivers immediate appeal with the structure to reward short-term cellaring.
