Tasting note: Rich and inviting, this 12-year-old Double Cask shows a layered nose of dried fruits, honeyed toffee, orange peel and warm baking spices. On the palate it is silky and rounded — notes of caramel, vanilla and subtle oak spice lead to a long, gently warming finish with a touch of dark chocolate and cinnamon. Producer notes: From The Macallan, a distillery famed for marrying tradition with exacting oak management, this expression celebrates the interaction between American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry. The Double Cask series aims for balance: the American oak brings sweet vanilla and citrus, while the European oak contributes richer dried-fruit and spice tones. Winemaking/production notes: Distilled as a single malt from malted barley and matured in a carefully selected mix of sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. The spirit spends twelve years evolving in these casks, allowing the oak and previous-seasoning characteristics to integrate with the distillery’s signature fruity and floral spirit profile.
