Tasting note: Bright, classically Burgundian aromatics open with red cherry, cranberry and a hint of rose petal, then drift toward earthy mushroom and sous-bois. On the palate this 2022 shows a compact, medium body with taut, fine-grained tannins and lively acidity that keeps the wine fresh and precise. The finish is vivid and a touch tannic at present, promising graceful development with a few years in bottle. Producer notes: From Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur, a family-run estate in Volnay, this Pitures Dessus Premier Cru expresses the steep, well-drained hillsides of the appellation. Hand-harvested fruit and low yields aim to highlight site character. Winemaking notes: Gentle extraction and careful temperature-controlled fermentation preserve aromatic lift. Malolactic fermentation is completed and the wine is matured in oak barrels to integrate structure while retaining the site’s mineral edge.
