Tasting note: Bright, waxy top notes—think beeswax and lemon zest—open to coastal sea spray, honeyed orchard fruit and a whisper of gentle smoke. The palate is creamy and slightly oily, showing salted caramel, vanilla bean and toasted oak before a long, layered finish of citrus pith and warm toffee. Producer notes: From the famed Clynelish distillery in the northern Highlands, this Special Release ten-year-old celebrates the house’s hallmark waxy character and maritime influence. Distillery notes: Clynelish’s coastal location and traditional distillation produce a fragrant, textured spirit; this bottling has been matured a decade in carefully selected oak casks to balance freshness with oak spice. Winemaking/maturation notes: Matured for 10 years in a selection of well-seasoned oak, the whisky shows restrained wood influence and lively fruit and honeyed tones. No grape components are involved—this is a malt whisky crafted from floor-malted barley, spirit-distillation and oak maturation. Vineyard/fields: Barley for Clynelish is sourced from nearby growers; the cool, salt-touched Highland air and peat/soil profile contribute to the distillery’s distinctive coastal-mineral signature. Serving suggestion: Pour and rest for about 10 minutes, or add a few drops of water to open aromatics. Best enjoyed neat or with a single ice sphere to temper intensity.

Clynelish is a coastal Highland distillery known for a distinctive waxy, maritime character. Built into a landscape of barley fields and sea breezes, the distillery uses traditional copper pot stills and careful maturation to produce spirits with fragrant top notes, oily texture and long finishes. This Special Release ten-year-old showcases the house style: bright citrus and waxy honey tempered by oak and coastal salinity.
