This 2024 cask‑strength release from Highland Park pours with bold, uncompromising presence. On the nose: warm heather honey, seared orange peel, and a clear maritime peat smoke lifted by coastal iodine. The palate is full and oily, delivering layered dried stone fruits, vanilla oak and a peppery spice that rides the smoke rather than being overpowered by it. Maturation in a mix of European sherry and American oak casks gives notes of caramel, dark fruit and baking spice; at full strength the whisky is powerful but balanced — add a few drops of water if you prefer it to open more gently. A long, smoky-sweet finish leaves cocoa and sea-salt echoes. Producer notes: a single-malt, small-batch cask strength from the Orkney distillery, showcasing island character and traditional floor‑malting influence. Winemaking (distilling) notes: distilled in copper pot stills, matured in select sherry-seasoned and refill oak casks, bottled without dilution to preserve the cask profile.
