2010 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion

Deep purple in the glass, the 2010 La Mission Haut-Brion is a powerful, architecturally-built wine from Pessac‑Leognan. The nose unfolds layers of concentrated black fruit, cedar, cigar-box spice, dark chocolate and graphite; hints of iodine and forest-floor minerality add complexity. On the palate it is full-bodied and dense yet lithe—opulent dark-fruit sweetness balanced by bright freshness, firm but silky tannins and a monumental, lingering finish. Produced after an exceptionally dry, warm season that concentrated sugars and colour, the wine spent 18 months in oak and shows the hallmark empyreumatic signature of the estate. With 15.1% alcohol and superb ageing potential (peak drinking stretches for decades), decant 60–90 minutes for best early enjoyment. Serve with richly flavoured red meats, game and mature cheeses.
