A classic Haut-Médoc bottle from Château Sociando‑Mallet’s 1990 vintage: deep, mature and concentrated. On the nose, intense black fruit and cassis are threaded with cedar, tobacco and a subtle olive‑tapenade earthiness; mineral and gentle oak spice underline the complexity. The palate is full-bodied and focused — firm tannic spine that has softened with age, fresh acidity that keeps the wine lively, and a long, resonant finish. Producer notes stress traditional vinification: hand-harvested fruit delivered in excellent condition, native yeasts, temperature‑controlled stainless steel and concrete vats with daily pump‑overs to extract colour and aromatics, followed by about 12 months of oak ageing to give structure and polish. Drink now through the stated window after a short decant to show the wine’s layered tertiary notes. A perfect partner for grilled or roasted red meats and mature cheeses.
