Tasting note

This 2019 from Château La Lagune is a classic Haut-Médoc expression: poised, layered and built for both early pleasure and long ageing. Aromas open on black and red fruit framed by floral notes and hints of cocoa, tobacco and gently toasted oak from 16 months of French barrel ageing. In the cellar careful plot-by-plot winemaking — meticulous manual and optical sorting, measured extraction and final blending during maturation — produces a wine with polished yet present tannins, bright acidity and a mineral backbone derived from the estate's light gravel soils. The estate has been on a path toward organic conversion and uses environmentally-minded viticulture to preserve terroir complexity. Serve after an hour of decanting (longer if younger) alongside grilled or roasted red meats and mature cheeses.
