Bright, precise and classically driven — the 2022 La Gibryotte from Claude Dugat offers an immediate bouquet of red cherry, wild strawberry and a violet floral note, then turns savory with forest-floor and gentle spice. On the palate it is mid-weight with a graceful core of fresh acidity, silky, fine-grained tannins and a mineral thread that keeps the fruit poised rather than heavy. The wine shows a balance of fruit ripeness and old-vine concentration, finishing with lingering saline and earthy echoes. Producer notes: Claude Dugat is one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most respected small domaines, focused on low yields, parcel selection and meticulous cellar work. La Gibryotte is drawn from tightly tended vines in the commune, yielding wines that showcase clarity and terroir expression. Winemaking: Crafted in the traditional Burgundian style, fermentation is handled with gentle extraction and attention to texture. Native yeasts, moderate maceration and patient élevage in French oak barrels (with a measured use of new wood) allow the terroir to remain front and center while adding subtle spice and structure. Vineyard: Fruit comes from old vines planted on stony, well-drained soils typical of the Côte de Nuits. The exposure and soil mix promote balanced ripening and a pronounced mineral backbone, producing a wine that drinks beautifully in youth with short decanting and will also reward careful cellaring.
