Tasting note: The 2012 Saint-Reol Grand Cru Brut Millesime opens with a noble, toasty bouquet of brioche and autolytic yeast, layered over ripe red fruit and citrus zest. On the palate it shows creamy mousse and concentrated weight — ripe orchard fruit and subtle baked-apple notes balanced by lively, chalky acidity and a persistent, savoury finish. Producer notes: Produced by Champagne Saint-Reol from Grand Cru fruit, this vintage is made in the traditional method with extended lees ageing and a restrained Brut dosage. Critics have praised the 2012 for its maturity and ready-to-drink charm while retaining the structure of a serious vintage Champagne. Winemaking notes: Traditional secondary fermentation in bottle, lengthy lees contact to build complexity and texture, low dosage to preserve vibrancy. Bottled under cork and allowed additional maturation prior to release, resulting in the wine’s developed toasty character and refined mousse. Vineyard notes: Grapes sourced from Grand Cru sites with classic Champagne chalky soils and a cool maritime climate.
