Tasting note: Deep ruby with youthful rim. Aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry and blackberry jam are laced with cedar, dark chocolate, subtle orange peel and floral lift. On the palate it combines concentrated fruit with fresh, lively acidity and polished, silky tannins; mineral threads and fine oak frame a persistent, refined finish. Producer notes: A Deuxième Cru Classé from Saint-Julien under the stewardship of Bruno Borie, Ducru‑Beaucaillou is renowned for meticulous vineyard work and classic Médoc expression. Its proximity to the Gironde estuary moderates temperatures and reduces summer extremes, a key factor in even ripening. Winemaking notes: Grapes receive rigorous sorting and careful handling; élevage includes roughly 18 months in French oak (blend and new oak proportion vary by vintage). The final bottling is closed with natural cork and intended for both drinking now with decanting and further cellaring through the stated drinking window. Vineyard notes: The estate farms gravelly parcels on the Saint-Julien plateau influenced by four daily tides of the Gironde estuary, which bring thermal moderation and reduce frost and hail risk. Around fifty manual interventions across the growing season contribute to the quality of the grand vin.
