Tasting note: Deep ruby with a subtle rim, this Pauillac opens with notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum, layered with cedar, sweet tobacco and gentle spicy hints. The entry is powerful and focused, leading to a rounded, full mid-palate where polished oak and mineral lift the core fruit. The finish is fresh, slightly spicy and persistent. Producer notes: Château Duhart‑Milon’s grand vin is widely regarded as a benchmark for Pauillac—robust, finely coloured and marked by Médoc sappiness. The estate recommends cellar ageing; the 2012 displays structure that rewards patience and breathing. Winemaking notes: Matured in French oak, the oak influence is refined rather than dominant. Careful sorting after a challenging vintage produced concentrated fruit with balanced extraction; élevage integrates wood and fruit to give a precise, well-knit texture. Vineyard notes: Sits on classic gravelly Pauillac soils managed by Louis Caillard, benefiting from meticulous vineyard work during a variable 2012 growing season. Situated on gravelly Médoc soils and neighboring some of the region’s most famous estates, Duhart‑Milon combines careful vineyard work, low yields and traditional élevage in French oak. Winemaker Christophe Congé oversees production with vineyard manager Louis Caillard, focusing on precision, balance and ageing potential.
