A classic Pomerol from the Chasseuil family, the 2014 Chateau Feytit-Clinet opens on an intriguing nose of truffle, mint, licorice and tobacco, with floral and red-fruit notes lurking beneath. On the palate it is soft and polished—forward and fruit-driven yet fresh—showing sweet fruit tones balanced by integrated French oak. Winemaking is traditional and careful: manual harvest, cold pre-fermentary maceration (3 days at ~10°C), 3–4 weeks maceration/fermentation in rectangular concrete vats, malolactic in barrel and two months on lees, followed by 15 months ageing in 65% new French oak. The vineyards sit on gravel and gravel-on-clay soils that lend structure and a discreet minerality. Decant for an hour if serving now; this vintage will continue to evolve gracefully through the drinking window.
