Tasting note: Dark ruby with a gentle rim, this Saint-Julien shows classic savory character—blackcurrant and sweet cherry at the forefront, layered with cedar, tobacco and a hint of mint and anise. Oak spice and dark chocolate appear on the mid-palate while firm, structured tannins give the wine skeleton and grip. The overall profile is dry, medium-to-medium-full bodied and decidedly classic in style; it benefits from airing to soften and reveal its fruit.
Producer notes: A Deuxième Cru Classé with long-standing prestige, the estate is owned by the Taillan Group and farms its 82 hectares with careful attention to terroir and tradition. The parcel soils are Garonne gravel laid down in the early quaternary, and vines average around 46 years of age.
Winemaking notes: Harvest is manual with selection in the vineyard and double sorting at reception. Fermentations take place in a mix of wood and temperature-controlled cement tanks with selected yeast additions. The wine spends 18–24 months in fine-grain French oak (circa 80% new), producing a refined but powerful structure.
Vineyard notes: Managed according to organic and biodynamic principles across the property. Practices include integrated pest control, leaf-thinning, removal of excess buds and green harvesting. The result is a wine shaped by mature vines on gravelly soils, offering both extract and St.-Julien elegance.
Serve: Decant for about 1–2 hours. Pair with roasted or grilled red meats, game and aged cheeses.
