Tasting note

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 2009 is a benchmark Pauillac from a historic 2ème Cru Classé estate. Deep garnet to ruby, the nose opens with concentrated black fruits—blackberry, cassis and plum—overlaid by cedar, tobacco, graphite and a smoky, incense-like spice. On the palate it is full-bodied and lavishly textured: fleshy ripe fruit, polished yet assertive tannins and a core of savory, mocha and mineral notes. The oak ageing (20 months) brings vanillin and dark chocolate nuances while keeping the wine precise and balanced. Planted on deep gravel soils and managed with careful, phased harvesting, this vintage shows both immediate charm and long-term potential. Expect grand complexity and an exceptional, lingering finish best enjoyed after a generous decant.
