A textbook Margaux from a classified Second Growth estate, the 2016 offers concentrated, layered black fruit lifted by floral and spice notes. On the nose: black cherry, cassis and violet with hints of pink pepper, incense and roasted coffee. The palate is dense yet precise — taut, fresh acidity underpins firm, finely grained tannins and a sculpted core of fruit without heaviness. Oak influence appears as warm spice and subtle chocolate, the result of 18 months in French barrels (50% new). Vineyard parcels sit on clay‑gravel and sandy‑clay gravels (Terrace 4), harvested between 20 September and 15 October in a vintage marked by a wet spring and sunny, dry summer. Winemaking follows parcel-by-parcel vinification with gravity transfer into temperature-controlled stainless vats, maturation in medium-toasted French oak and fining with egg whites in barrel for clarity and suppleness. This is a long-lived wine — elegant, structured and concentrated. Decant for 60–90 minutes if drinking now, or cellar for further integration. Excellent with roast or grilled red meats and savory hard cheeses.

Château Rauzan‑Ségla is a historic Margaux estate classified as a Deuxième Cru (Second Growth). Today owned by Chanel, the domaine works fine gravel and clay terraces that favour concentrated, elegant wines. Vinification emphasizes parcel-by-parcel élevage with gravity transfers into temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, gentle racking and egg-white fining in barrel. Ageing is carried out in French oak (medium to medium-long toast), typically around 18 months with roughly half new barrels to bring structure, spice and polished tannins.
