The 2016 shows concentrated dark-fruited aromas — blackcurrant, ripe black cherry and cassis — framed by cedar, graphite and tobacco notes. On the palate it is medium‑full, with firm, polished tannins, a clear mineral thread and layered spice that build to a long, refined finish. Producer notes: Produced by the Borie family at Château Ducru‑Beaucaillou, this Cuvée Colbert is assembled from selected parcels of the estate, crafted to offer the house’s signature density and poise in a more accessible expression. Winemaking & vineyard: Grapes come from well‑drained gravelly plots in Saint‑Julien; vinification follows careful extraction and temperature‑controlled fermentation with extended maceration to gently develop texture. The wine sees maturation in oak barrels, allowing the fruit to integrate with savory, toasty elements without overpowering the core fruit.
